This facility adds over 20,000sf to the existing church. HV Engineering was responsible for the plumbing and HVAC design of this project. The project required the remodel of portions of the existing building. Gas Packaged HVAC units were provided for the Multipurpose Addition. Gas furnaces with split system condensing units were provided for the smaller spaces such as classrooms, banquet room and the kitchen.

Design Challenges
The High bay entry lobby concept as typified at Bethany Baptist creates significant challenges to heating in a church facility. The use of low wall grilles significantly reduces thermal stratification in these areas of the facility. The Large assembly occupancies of the sanctuary require that huge amounts of outside air be brought into the facility to maintain good indoor air quality. The use of rooftop, gas fired, AC packages provides the most cost effective solution to this requirement. You can see the rooftop HVAC equipment in the elevations and the multitude of supply grilles integrated with the ceiling coffers inside.
